Might we all be a little like the anxious, over-extended, perfectionist painter in "Leaf by Niggle"?
The Anselm Society Book Club wraps up its short-story summer with a foray into J.R.R. Tolkien's fable, "Leaf by Niggle." You are invited to join us at 6:30pm, Saturday, August 20, 2022, in the home of one of our members.

“Old Man Willow,” by J.R.R. Tolkien
All are welcome, regardless of literary affinities, religious affiliations, or culinary preferences (we always have refreshments!).
The dictionary defines “to niggle” as “to spend to much effort on minor details." Let's major on the important ones in August, ones that won't be forgotten. Hospitality, creativity, love . . . .
Want to have a video taste of "Leaf by Niggle"? Here's a clip of Heidi White retelling the story at last year's Imagination Redeemed Conference:
Or here's a little longer adaptation, read by novelist S.D. Smith at the 2018 conference:
If you don't have a print copy of the short story, here's an online PDF version.
PS For the meeting's address, inquire at anita@anselmsociety.org.
