“The Lord bless us and watch over us;
“The Lord make his face shine upon us and be gracious to us;
The Lord look kindly on us and give us peace.”
These are the words that close the service of Compline, the last service of the Daily Office since the 6th Century. Here in this season of Advent, when we are praying and watching for the light of Christ coming into the world, we invite you to a special time of evening prayer that focuses on two things; the light of Christ shining in the darkness, and God’s protective care over our lives. A service rich with Scripture, music, peace, and beauty, this will be an opportunity to lay your cares at God’s feet and be enveloped in peace.
The Chamber Singers from Soli Deo Gloria Choir, under the direction of Nathaniel Voelker, will be singing "There Shall a Star from Jacob Come Forth" by Felix Mendelssohn. They will also add their voices in singing the Compline service.
“Every act of beauty is a defiance of despair, every candle lit repels the darkness.” ~ Lancia Smith
Come light a candle with us on December 7th.
Everyone is invited! Children are welcome, though there will be no nursery provided. A small choir will lead the service singing hymns, chanting the Psalm, and leading the congregation in singing elements of a traditional Evensong service.
If you’d like to join the choir, you can do so with only one rehearsal on Wednesday, December 4th at 7:00 pm. To receive a music packet and more information, please send an email to Terri Moon at the button above (musicalmoons@gmail.com).
