Artists engage with God uniquely, and so need unique spaces for refreshment and retreat. This is our third year offering this gathering; it is a gift of love from Colorado churches to our artists. For one beautiful day each year, artists and art-lovers explore the way God uses the imagination to enrich our approach to Him. Pastors and artists from all over the state help guide us through spiritual practices and reflect on spiritual truths.

With room to roam and walk through the beautiful Colorado landscape at Glen Eyrie castle, we will encourage artists to take time to simply be, whether that be sketching in a cozy armchair, or walking the stunning grounds. From refreshing ways to approach Scripture, to time to reflect and create, this day will help us use our imaginations to engage with God in new ways, freeing ourselves to creatively love and be loved by Him.

This is not a workshop where artists will be left with a list of ways to improve, but rather an invitation for people to receive and reflect on the many ways God imaginatively loves us and hopes to use our imaginations as a space to bring us closer to Him.

Theme: Your Audience

Why, and for whom, do we create? Is it for critics, for ourselves, for an aspirational "public" when we hit it big (or when anyone notices us at all)? Is there any prospect of relationship with those for whom we create? Are there uniquely Christian ways we can approach our audience; to speak to them, bless them, and even be inspired in return?

Join dozens of creators from across Colorado to explore these and other questions surrounding the topic of audience; as we seek to be able to meet God better in our work, create works that touch lives, and deepen relationships through our craft.

We have intentionally built in spaces for discussion or private reflection; feel free to use breaks to talk, pray, create, walk the beautiful grounds, or speak with a staff pastor or spiritual director. You’re encouraged to take a break as much as possible from cell phones, and responsibilities in the world off-site, and simply rest.

"That was truly life-changing for me! I’m going to be thinking on that for a very long time. I felt a new infusion of encouragement and a new strength and resolve to follow through with some of the things that God has told me to do."

"So precious and powerful."

"It made me realize again that the 'office' of the artist is something for me to take seriously and joyfully."

FAQ

WHERE WILL WE MEET?

We will be in the Glen Eyrie Carriage House, which is immediately to the left of the road just as you approach the castle. The Carriage House dining room is just to the right of the bookstore and coffee shop.

WHAT'S THE PARKING SITUATION?

There is plenty of on-site parking including handicapped spaces. There is ample parking around the Carriage House itself, and more across the street and by the castle.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TICKET PRICE? WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE?

All-day access to the event and the Glen Eyrie grounds, individual spiritual direction and pastoral prayer upon request, plus lunch, and morning coffee upon arrival. Additional coffee is available for purchase throughout the day at the Glen Eyrie bookstore right outside our room. See above for the full schedule.

I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS. CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE THEM?

The Glen Eyrie dining room can accommodate most common dietary NEEDS (not preferences), IF they know in advance. There is an option to indicate these needs on the order form.

I'M COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN. WHAT HOTELS DO YOU RECOMMEND?

Glen Eyrie itself! Click here to reserve a room. We have not created a block of rooms for the event (they have plenty of space), so it’s first-come, first-served.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

You may cancel your registration for a full refund up to 7 days before the event. (Email us at anselmsociety@gmail.com if you can’t figure out how to do it from Eventbrite.) After that, we can't promise anything unless we can successfully transfer your ticket to someone on the waitlist.

I'M AN INTROVERT, SO I SHOULD PROBABLY TALK MYSELF OUT OF GOING BECAUSE IT'S LESS DAUNTING, RIGHT?

This is a retreat, not a conference. Numbers will be manageable, and there will be a lot of opportunity for reflection and quiet. Don't worry!
