Next time (Tuesday October 20 at 5:30), in addition to some warmup hymns to keep us improving, we will be learning Thomas Walmisley's lovely Victorian-era arrangement of the Song of Simeon ("Nunc Dimittis;" lyrics further down). You can listen to it at the YouTube link below, and download the sheet music. If it's helpful to you, use these to familiarize yourself with the piece beforehand! Last choral jam we had a ton of guys and it sounded awesome--ladies, you'll have to keep up! ;-)

(2) Choir Opportunity
Starting the day after choral jam (October 21), Holy Trinity Anglican Church is doing a series of five Wednesday night dinners throughout late October and early November, to prepare for Advent (free food + prayer and teaching! see bottom for details). As part of those dinners, they'll be doing Evensong, a beautiful music-heavy version of Evening Prayer. They've asked us to assemble a choir to sing the Nunc Dimittis for that service. If you would be interested in participating in this choir, please email our director Emily Jarvela at ejarvela89@gmail.com. Remind her what part you sing. If neither she nor I has heard you sing before, we'll arrange for a quick, informal audition. If we have heard you before, and we like what we've heard, obviously we can skip that. You do not need to be available for all five weeks (although the more you can do, the more helpful it'll be!).

Advent Dinner and Teaching Series
5:30 - 7:30 pm, Oct 21, 28, Nov 4, 11, and 18 - Childcare Provided – Sign-up in Fellowship Hall to attend and/or bring Soup
What: To better prepare for the Advent season, we will be holding a series of five Wednesday night dinners and teachings. Dinners will start at 5:30 pm with teaching sessions beginning about 6:15ish. The teaching sessions are still being planned and will be defined in more detail next week. Childcare will be provided during the teaching time for children 5th grade and below.
What To Do Next: Please sign-up in the Fellowship Hall if you are planning to attend. Include children’s Name & Age needing childcare/sitting for the teaching period. There is a separate sign-up sheet in the Fellowship Hall to sign-up to bring your favorite hearty soup and bread(s) if you wish. (Sign up to bring a soup to feed 10 people and feel free to sign-up for more than one night. Also, remember to put the dates and times on your calendar.)
