Frequently asked questions...please check here before emailing us; it might save us both some time!
Ideas for Dinner downtown?
We've created a Google Map with some of our favorite spots here (check our notes; we've indicated which places are friendliest to special diets). We've also included parking information in the map description. You can use the Facebook event to coordinate your dinner plans with people, or go with one of our Anselm staff-led groups.
Can I buy a ticket for just the concert?
Yes, but they're sold out!
I'm an introvert, so I should probably talk myself out of going because it's less daunting, right?
That depends. Do you like sitting quietly and listening to awesome people inspire you with no pressure to talk back (i.e. lectures)? Do you like really good coffee, food, and other drinks? Do you appreciate gorgeous views of either skylines or mountains? And (the kicker) do you like the idea of having this room furnished with tables and cushy armchairs, designated as a Quiet Room and available for retreat all day?
In short: we take hospitality seriously. We'll take good care of you. We even have some Anselm staff-led groups going to dinner, so there's no chance of you feeling left out there. Also most of our speakers are introverts and they are coming. Don't be silly. You should come.
What's the parking situation?
There is ample free parking in the Pinery's lot. Please note we'll be going to dinner downtown in small groups--while we're sure there will be people with an extra seat, coming in your own car will give you the most flexibility for coming and going where and when you please!
What is included in the ticket price?
The conference ticket price provides you with access to the entire event, including your choice of workshops (first-come, first-served--we'll send out a signup form in March) and the evening concert. Breakfast pastries, lunch, and afternoon snacks are included; as are water, coffee, and tea all day. Cocktail hour will feature a cash bar. Dinner is NOT included in the ticket price; we will be heading downtown for dinner on our own. This will be a chance to take a break from the space, experience wonderful downtown Colorado Springs, and enjoy excellent food in a more intimate setting with friends. (We will have a few Anselm staff-led groups in case you haven't brought or made any bosom friends!)
I have special dietary needs. Can you accommodate them?
There will be gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options at lunch. As for dinner, we will give you advance info about the best restaurants for special diets...but downtown Colorado Springs is a national leader on that front so you shouldn't have a problem.
I'm coming from out of town. What hotels do you recommend?
Best option:
The Mining Exchange, A Wyndham Grand Hotel & Spa
Right across the highway from the venue, a lovely upscale hotel with a ton of local charm, right in the heart of walkable downtown and all its amenities.
Budget option:
The Clarion Hotel
Right at the bottom of the hill where the conference will be held.
We will email you lots of other goodies a couple weeks before the event, helping you get the most out of your visit (food, craft beers, etc.). You can also use the Facebook event to coordinate meals with old friends or new ones on Friday night, Saturday during the conference, or Sunday.
What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel your registration on Eventbrite for a full refund up to 30 days before the event. After that, we will handle cancellations on a case-by-case basis (most likely transferring your ticket to someone on the waiting list and refunding your money).
I'm not sure I can afford it. Are there scholarships?
There is a scholarship fund for Anselm member artists, because we want them all to be able to attend. (Apply to be a member artist here.) Member artists may apply for a scholarship (full or partial) simply by requesting one from Brian Brown. Depending on funds, we may be able to offer scholarships to a limited number of others. Use the button below to apply for a scholarship--we will notify you in March if you have been selected for a scholarship.
